He has extensive experience in representing clients before state courts as well as arbitral tribunals and regularly acts as arbitrator.<\/p><p>As an experienced litigator, Martin represents national and international clients in commercial disputes before German courts. In the field of arbitration, he has conducted proceedings as counsel under various arbitration rules. Furthermore, Martin advises his clients in other dispute resolution proceedings (including expert determination proceedings, mediation) and in out-of-court disputes.<\/p><p>In addition to his work as counsel, Martin has extensive experience as co-arbitrator \/ presiding arbitrator under numerous arbitration rules (including ICC, DIS, SO-Bau, GMAA and ad-hoc proceedings).<\/p><p>As a bar-certified specialist lawyer in International Business Law (<em>\u2018Fachanwalt f\u00fcr Internationales Wirtschaftsrecht\u2019<\/em>, since 2014), Martin has special expertise in disputes relating to cross-border commercial contracts as well as in disputes relating to international industry projects.<\/p><p>He has advised and represented companies in legal disputes in particular in the areas of trade (sales and service contracts), energy (in particular offshore-wind-industry and hydrogen-industry), plant and mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, the supply industry as well as in damage and liability cases (including insurance).<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">The renowned German business magazine  <em>WirtschaftsWoche<\/em> ranked Martin as a 'TOP Lawyer' for arbitration. In the <em>Handelsblatt\/Best Lawyers<\/em> ranking \u2018The Best Lawyers in Germany\u2019, Martin is recognized in the areas of Litigation, Arbitration and Mediation.<em>Leaders League<\/em>'s ranking for Germany recommends him for the areas \u2018International Arbitration\u2019 and \u2018Commercial Litigation\u2019.<\/p><p>Before founding GRAT Disputes, Martin was a lawyer with the leading international law firm Hogan Lovells (Litigation\/Arbitration practice group) and the Hamburg law firm Lebuhn &amp; Puchta (Litigation\/Arbitration practice group). He studied law at the Universities of M\u00fcnster, Hamburg and Nijmegen (Netherlands) and wrote his doctoral thesis on a topic in the field of international sales and commercial law (CISG).<\/p><p>Martin is a lecturer in \u2018International Arbitration\u2019 in the specialist lawyers course (<em>\u2018Fachanwaltslehrgang\u2018<\/em>) of the German Lawyers' Academy (<em>\u2018Deutsche Anwaltakademie\u2019<\/em>) and a lecturer in \u2018International Contract and Commercial Law\u2019 at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences.
